First things first, what is Quality Control?
Essentially, quality control is a process employed to ensure a certain level of quality within the organisation. It involves the examination of a product, service, or process for certain minimum levels of quality. The basic goal of quality control is to ensure that the products, service, or processes provided meet specific requirements and are dependable, satisfactory, and financially stable. Practical considerations of quality control:
- The procedure/s associated with the requirement/s
- The sampling plan as per ISO 10725:2000
- Acceptance criteria
- Non conformance procedure
- Root cause and corrective action
Receiving Inspection
Receiving inspection is designed to ensure acceptable product being introduced to the organisation. The objective of receiving inspection is to verify and document that all applicable specifications and requirements pertaining to raw materials and/or bought in products are satisfied by outside suppliers.
Inprocess inspection
Inprocess inspection is the mechanism used to assure product and services throughout the life cycle of both manufacturing and operation. The objective of inprocess inspection is to verify and document that all applicable specifications and requirements pertaining to customer product are stable and continue to meet specifications and requirements
Final Inspection
Final inspection is the mechanism used to ensure that the outgoing product and/ or service is acceptable and in accordance with the specifications and requirement. Based on the customer/ industry/ regulatory requirements, final inspection may take many forms and be concluded in many ways. For instance 100% inspection requires a final inspection that looks at every aspect of the product/ service. Whereas sampling inspection (also known as batch inspection) takes a statistical sample of the total amount.
